Why are archery targets this colour?[see pic below] i would have thought the dot in the middle should either b?

It is designed to provide good contrast between successive bands. Also, it is a sort of tradition that "the gold" represents the principle goal that one strives for, and archers commonly refer to the bright yellow center as "the gold".
