Friend problems,and I need some help?

In the beginning of my fall semester of college, my friend asked me to join archery. So, I went to the coach with my friend to ask, the coach replied," I'm not taking any participants till next fall". I was bummed about it, but I said to my friend I can wait till next fall. Half way through spring semester my friends gets a boyfriend, then starts telling me I shouldn't join because her boyfriend has joined the team. Is this wrong for her to do so??
